COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore Julie Chidley received this week's McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award, Tuesday.
Chidley played a key role as San Diego State claimed a 5-4 victory over crosstown rival San Diego in its only action of the week on Wednesday. The sophomore from Riverside, Calif., rolled past USD's Annia Seppi (6-0, 6-1) in the No. 6 position to tie the match at three all following singles play. She then teamed with Lindsey Hedberg at No. 3 doubles to win the deciding match, 8-6, over USD's duo of Polumbis/Pyne.
Chidley has won her last four matches, and seven of the last eight. She owns a dual record of 11-5 this season and leads the team with 19 total victories. SDSU is ranked No. 32 in the nation and owns an 11-7 team record and stand 7-7 against ranked opponents.
This is the third player of the week award of the season for the Aztecs and the first for Chidley.
