San Diego - The San Diego State softball team blanked UNLV in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at SDSU Field. The Aztecs are now 21-19, 4-2 MWC, while UNLV falls to 15-25, 1-5 in conference.
In game one, SDSU's Sandra Durazo scattered five hits in seven innings to lead the Aztecs to a 3-0 victory.
The Aztecs got on the board in the first inning when Kellie Labor singled to bring home Kellie Nordhagen from second base. SDSU would not strike again until the fifth when Tiffany Goudy doubled to center field, allowing Sarah Hershman to score. Goudy would then score on a Tashie Agui?aga single.
In game two, freshman hurler Olivia Catron would go the distance to earn a 6-0 shut out. The Aztecs decided the game early, jumping on Rebel pitcher Geney Orris for five hits and all six runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Hershman went 2-3 while scoring a run and batting in another. Alexis Gutierrez was also on fire, batting 2-3 with one RBI.
San Diego State will host Cal State Fullerton in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. at SDSU Field.
