Men's Basketball Loses to BYU

PROVO, Utah (AP) - Terrell Lyday scored 19 points as Brigham Young cruised past San Diego State 67-50 Saturday night.

The Aztecs were within five points with 8 minutes to play in the first half, but fell down 39-27 at halftime.

The Cougars then opened the second half with a 12-2 run, burying San Diego.

Mekeli Wesley added 15 points for BYU, while SDSU was led by Myron Epps' 16 points.

With the win, BYU (18-9, 7-7) heads into the Mountain West tournament next week having won its final two games. The Cougars will face off against New Mexico in the first round.

SDSU (5-22, 0-14) went winless in the Mountain West under first year head coach Steve Fisher and will play UNLV to start the Mountain West tournament.
