The San Diego State men's volleyball team fell, 3-0 (17-15, 15-8, 15-5), to the sixth-ranked University of Hawai'i in the second night of a two-match tonight at Peterson Gym. The loss drops the Aztecs' record to 4-16 overall and 2-15 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The loss is the third in a row for the Aztecs, who finish the month of March with a 3-5 record.
In the match, the Aztecs were led by senior Mike Szymanski with 22 kills. Classmate Sean Mackin added 16 kills and a team-high .400 overall hitting percentage.
Clay Stanley led the Rainbows with 24 kills and a team-high .606 hitting percentage. Eyal Zimit added 17 kills and Costas Theocharidis came off the bench to collect 15 kills en route to the Rainbows 14th win of the season. Their record stands at 14-8 overall with a 9-6 MPSF mark.
SDSU returns to action Friday, April 7, for their home season-finale when they take on currently number one ranked Long Beach State. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. The match also marks senior night for five Aztecs.
