The Oregon Ducks won the EWGA/Lady Aztec Invitational today, with a score of 298-297-(595). The 25th ranked Ducks finished four strokes ahead of second place finisher, No. 24 California, which shot a team score of 295-304-(599) for the two-day, 36-hole event held at the Willow Glen Course at the Singing Hills Country Club. Baylor University had the day's lowest score with a 296 and placed third with an overall score of 602. Tournament host, San Diego State, put in a better outing in day-two, scoring a 310 for a 627 final.
The individual medalist honors went to both Carrie Summerhays of BYU and Oregon's Pam Sowden. Each shot a one-over-par 145 for the 36-holes. Second place went to Vikki Lang of California with a 73-73-(146).
Individually for San Diego State, Heather Rollo continued her steady play with the team's lowest score of 152, tying for 21st. Sophomore, Asa Jankler, fired a 79-78-(157), tying her for 46th place. Joanne Clingan and Jennifer Hoene each tied for 64th place with combined scores of 161.
Claire Riley played as an individual and tied for 38th with an 80-76-(156). Lauren McHugh also competed as an individual and tied with her fellow teammates for the 64th position.
The Aztecs return to action on April 3 and 4, when they travel to St. George, Utah, to compete at the Utah Dixie Classic at the Sunbrook Golf Club.
