The San Diego State men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (15-3, 15-9, 15-7) to the sixth-ranked University of Hawai'i in the first of a two match set at Peterson Gym. The loss brings the Aztecs to 2-14 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and 4-15 overall.
Senior Mike Szymanski led the way for SDSU with 14 kills. Senior Jed Stotsenberg added a career-high 10 kills with a team-high overall hitting percentage of .471 and seven digs.
Hawai'i was led by Costas Theocharidis and Brenton Davis with 14 kills apiece. Torry Tukuafu added 13 kills for the night. The Rainbows record improves to 13-8 overall and 8-6 in MPSF action.
The Aztecs and Hawai'i conclude the second match tomorrow night at Peterson Gym. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
