March 14, 2000

San Diego -

The San Diego State men's golf team's bid for its third team title of the year came up short today at the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, held at La Purisma Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif.

A five-stroke lead after two rounds quickly dwindled on the final day, as SDSU hit a tough stretch at the end, falling to a third place finish. The Aztecs shot a team score of 295-301-307-(903). Seventh-ranked Brigham Young won the tournament with a final score of 896, beating San Diegio by one stroke.

San Diego State returns to action on April 3-4, when they compete at the Western Intercollegiate hosted by San Jose State. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the Pasatiempo Golf Course located in Santa Cruz, Calif.
