SDSU Drops A 3-0 Decision to No. 4 Brigham Young

The San Diego State men's volleyball team fell to the fourth-ranked Brigham Young Cougars, 3-0, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday night in Provo, Utah. The Cougars displayed a balanced team effort on its way to a 15-2, 15-4, 15-7 victory. The defeat extends SDSU's losing streak to six matches. The Aztecs are now 1-11 overall and are still in search of its first MPSF win (0-11).

Individually, SDSU was led by senior Sean Mackin and Mike Szymanski. Each had a 11 kills for the Aztecs. Setter John Engstrom tallied eight digs. All night the Aztecs could not find any rhythm, committing 14 service errors and 31 hitting errors. The Cougars won the battle at the net, totaling 15.5 blocks to SDSU's 4.0.

The Aztecs return home this week to begin a four-match homestand. SDSU plays host to inner-city rival UC San Diego on Wednesday night (March 1) at Peterson Gym. Match time is set a 7 p.m.
