The Mountain West Conference named its Academic All-Conference team for women's soccer team yesterday, with four players from San Diego State earning the recognition.

Junior midfielder Elicia Petre (3.53 grade point average in psychology), freshman forward Bethany Robinson (3.91 GPA in kinesiology), junior midfielder/defender Danielle Small (3.32 GPA in kinesiology) and freshman midfielder Michele Wagner (3.07 GPA in psychology) represented SDSU on the All-Academic team.

Petre scored six goals and had two assists on the year. Her two-goal performance against Air Force in the second round of the Mountain West Conference tournament helped propel the Aztecs to the championship game. The San Juan Capistrano, Calif., native has been a fixture in the SDSU lineup, starting in all 44 of the Aztecs' games over the last two years. Petre received similar recognition last year, as she was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

Despite being in only her first year at the collegiate level, Robinson has shown the ability to be a vocal presence in the SDSU lineup. The West Valley City, Utah product scored two goals in 1999, the first of which came against nationally-ranked Kentucky, and the second against UNLV in a conference game that helped the Aztecs seal the Mountain West Conference regular-season title.

Small is one of two players on the SDSU roster to have international experience. She played for the Australian National Team in two games against World Cup runner-up China in China during the 1999 season, starting in both. Small, who is originally from Wangi Wangi, Australia recorded an assist in her first-ever international game. She will miss the upcoming Aztec season in preparation for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, but will return to SDSU in 2001.

Wagner is the Aztecs' final representative on the All-Academic team. A regular in the Aztec lineup in only her first year at the collegiate level, she saw action in all 22 of SDSU's games, making 19 starts. Two of Wagner's three goals on the year were game-winners.
