The San Diego State men's volleyball team fell to second-ranked USC, 3-0 (8-15, 5-15, 5-15), in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Wednesday night at Los Angeles.
The Aztecs' record drops to 1-6 overall and 0-6 in MPSF play. Meanwhile, the second-ranked Trojans improved to 8-1 overall and are 6-0 in the MPSF.
For SDSU, sophomore middle blocker Michael DeRaffaele finished with a team-high nine kills to go along with a season-high four service aces, while senior outside hitter Mike Szymanski tallied six kills.
The Trojans were led by sophomore Brook Billings, who registered a match-high 18 kills and four digs and freshman Mark Dusharme added 11 kills and hit .714 for the match.
As a team, USC outhit SDSU .470 to .175. The Trojans also played stellar defense, outdigging the Aztecs, 16-5.
SDSU returns to action this Friday, (Feb. 11) when it hosts Stanford at 7 p.m. at Peterson Gym in a MPSF match.
