SDSU Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate

The San Diego State men's golf team fired a four-over-par 573 in the final rounds (second and third) to finish fourth at the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate, held at the Raven Golf Course at Sabino Springs. Ariz., (Par-71, 6,797 yards). SDSU had entered today in 14th place after one round of play.

The Aztecs posted a final team score of 870 (+18) and finished ahead of No. 6 Arizona State, No. 11 Stanford, No. 15 Washington, No. 19 UCLA, and 25th-ranked Colorado. USC won the event by firing a 54-hole total of four-under-par 848. Event host and 24th-ranked Arizona finished second with a three-over-par 852 and 23rd-ranked New Mexico placed third with a nine-over-par 861.

Individually, SDSU had three players finish tied for 12th place, including junior Scott Piercy, freshman Lars Johansson and senior Magnus Carlsson. Each shot a three-over-par 216 for the 54-hole total. The final Aztec scorer was freshman Luis Assemat who shot a 224 on his way to a 48th place finish. Ryan Dononvan was SDSU's non-scorer with a 225 score.

San Diego State returns to action on Feb. 17-19, at the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Invitational in Hilo, Hawaii.
