SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team lost 2-0 pitcher's dual to 22nd-ranked Illinois-Chicago at the University of San Diego, Friday, Feb. 4th.
Illinois-Chicago's Amber Stachura opened up the scoring in the second when she came home on a Sandra Durazo wild pitch. Julie Bumgardner batted in the only other run for the Flames with her sacrifice bunt that brought home Abby Booth.
Durazo struck out seven in four innings and Tiffany Goudy allowed one hit in two innings. UIC pitcher Samantha Iuli was near flawless, however, as she did not allow a hit in the final five innings and struck out eight batters in the game.
The Flames and Aztecs only battled for six innings due to a 1:45 time limit placed on the game prior to its start.
