CSU shot only 31 percent but led 30-21 at halftime. The Aztecs cut it to 38-33 on a 3-pointer by Small and Jackson's layup early in the second half, but San Diego State turned the ball over on its next three possessions and Colorado State took a 45-33 lead.
Michael Marion's 3-pointer got the Aztecs within 69-60 with 3:04 left, but Palmer and Sivesind each made two free throws over the next 23 seconds.
