Aztecs Knock Off High Point

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Bradley Jackson scored 17 points to lead San Diego State to a 74-63 victory over High Point on Sunday, marking the Aztecs' first back-to-back wins in nearly two years.

The last time the Aztecs (5-6) won two in a row was in February 1998 with wins at Hawaii and at home against Air Force.

San Diego State shot 63.3 percent from the field in the second half as it made 19 of 30 shots, including 11 layups. The Aztecs also hit 5-for-9 from 3-point range in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Jackson was 5-for-7 from the field. He made all five free throws and had 11 assists.

Geordie Cullen led High Point (6-5) with 26 points. The Aztecs had trouble containing the 6-foot-11-inch center, who hit 10 of 12 shots from the floor and was 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

San Diego State pounded the ball inside in the second half and used a 15-5 run in the second half to take a 57-47 lead at the 9:42 mark.

The Panthers never got closer than six points the rest of the game.

Myron Epps added 16 points for San Diego State.
