Men's Hoops Jumps Ahead Early, Tops South Carolina State, 72-57

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Bradley Jackson led a balanced attack with 17 points and San Diego State scored 16 unanswered points to start the game en route to a 72-57 victory over South Carolina State on Thursday night.

The Aztecs, coming off a 34-point loss at Oklahoma State on Sunday, ran off to a 16-0 lead in the first 8 1-2 minutes before South Carolina State scored its first points.

The Bulldogs (2-6) missed their first 10 shots before James Jones scored on a rebound with 12:13 left in the half.

San Diego State (2-3) held a 38-20 lead at halftime and led by at least 11 points the rest of the game.

Jackson, who scored eight of San Diego State's first 10 points of the second half, was one of five Aztecs in double figures. Myron Epps scored 15, Vincent Okotie had 13 points and Marcelo Correa and David Abramowitz added 10 points each.

Jones and Omar Vanderhorst scored 15 points apiece to lead South Carolina State, which shot only 32.8 percent from the field.
