SAN DIEGO - A last-minute goal by Cal State Northridge handed the Matadors a 1-0 win over San Diego State in a game played at Northridge Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped the Aztecs to 3-7 on the season while CSN improved to 6-4.
The match was a tight scoreless duel until Northridge?s Michael Preis poked a loose ball into the nest with just 17 second remaining in the game.
The host team outshot SDSU 12-9. Aztec goalkeeper Brian Barnes was forced to make six saves while Matador goalie Christian Perez had five.
San Diego State was without the services of leading scorer Darren Parker for the second straight game after he was injured against San Francisco on September 26.
Up next for the Aztecs is a rematch with U.S. International next Saturday, October 9, at USIU at 3:00 p.m.
