COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference named San Diego State junior Sophia Hawker as the cross country athlete of the week for her performance at the UCSD Invitational Oct. 16.
Hawker, a San Diego native, equaled her best time of the season when she finished the UCSD course in 18:24. That time was good enough for eighth place in the field of 214 runners. Hawker has been the top runner for the Aztecs in every meet this season and has registered six of San Diego State?s seven fastest times.
Hawker and the rest of the Aztecs will compete for the MWC Championship in Provo, Utah, on Oct. 29.
