SDSU Men's Golf Finishes Third At The Fresno/Lexus Golf Classic

The San Diego State men's golf team placed third in the 16-team Fresno/Lexus Golf Classic held at the Belmont Country Club in Fresno, Calif. SDSU shot a five-under par 1,075 on the 6,481-yard and par-72 course.

Eleventh ranked Brigham Young captured the team title firing 1,034 (-46), while tournament host Fresno State placed second with a score of 1,053 (-27) during the two day tournament.

The Aztecs were led by freshman Lars Johansson, who shot a nine-under par 68-69-70 (207) on his way to a sixth place finish. Freshman Luis Assemat followed with a tie for 16th-place after shooting a three-under par 213. Junior Ryan Donovan shot two-over par (218) to finish tied for 33rd, while senior Scott Piercy shot three-over with a 76-74-69 (219) to place tied for 42nd.

SDSU will host the Real Del Mar Classic in Baja, Mexico next Monday and Tuesday. Thirty six holes are being played on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. More information regarding the Real Del Mar Classic will be posted at the end of this week.
