Women's Volleyball Defeats Wyoming

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's volleyball team ended its three match losing streak with a 3-1 (15-12, 15-2, 13-15, 15-13) victory over Wyoming in front of more than 250 in attendance at Peterson Gym. The Aztecs improve their overall record to 8-10 and 2-4 in Mountain West Conference action. Wyoming falls to 8-11 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

The Aztecs had three players finish in double figures in kills, including senior outside hitter Jamie Evans, who poured in a match-high 17 kills in the contest. Teammate Lisa Bostian tallied her first double-double of the season with a career-high 14 kills on 22 attacks with just four errors for a .455 attack percentage. Bostian also chipped-in with 12 digs and seven assists. Freshman middle blocker Nicole Akporiaye continued her solid play with a 12 kill performance and four total blocks. Junior Erin Grady added eight kills on 17 attacks with just two errors for a .353 hitting percentage on the night.

SDSU continues its Mountain West play with consecutive conference road matches, beginning Friday against Air Force and followed by a visit to New Mexico on Saturday to face the Lobos. The Aztecs return home on Monday, October 25, for a non-conference match against Northern Arizona. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Peterson Gym.
