Women's Soccer Loses at Cal

SAN DIEGO - Stacy Mallison?s goal with four minutes left in overtime gave California a 1-0 victory over San Diego State and the championship of the 1999 Cal Invitational.

The teams played 116 minutes of scoreless soccer before Mallison volleyed a cross from teammate Laura Schott into the net for the game winner.

The loss was SDSU?s first of the seaosn and dropped its record to 3-1 while Cal improved its season mark to 3-1.

The Aztecs outshot the Golden Bear 26-17 in an evenly fought contest. SDSU goalkeeper Linnea Quinones started her second straight game in the net in place of the injured Katherine Judkins and recorded six saves.

San Diego State defender Fay deLeon and forward Lori LaCoursiere were named to the all-tournament team as the Aztecs finished third in the four-team field behind Cal and William & Mary (on goal differential).

The Aztecs return to home action on Friday, September 10,m when they host Oklahoma at 1:00 p.m. at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.
