SAN DIEGO - The Aztec women?s soccer team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 2-0 win over George Washington in a first-round contest of the 1999 Cal Invitational being played in Livermore, CA.
Second-half goals from Elicia Petre and Megan Mattes provided the winning margin as SDSU outshot the Colonials 26-9.
Sophomore goalkeeper Linnea Quinones needed to make only one save and recorded the shutout for SDSU. Quinones started in place of senior Katherine Judkins who suffered a dislocated finger in the fifth minute of the Aztecs? win at Long Beach State last Wednesday.
San Diego State continues play in the Cal Invitational Sunday evening (September 5) when they face the host California Golden Bears at 9:00 p.m.
