Women's Volleyball Drops A Heartbreaker

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's volleyball team came back from two games to none to Fresno State, only to drop a thrilling five-game match, 3-2 (9-15, 6-15, 15-8, 16-14, 13-15), before more than 200 in attendance at Peterson Gym tonight.

The Aztecs (6-6), began the comeback behind the play of senior outside hitter Jamie Evans. The San Diego native tallied a career-high 18 kills, along with 11 digs, three block assists and three service aces. SDSU also received contribution from freshman middle blocker Nicole Akporiaye, who notched nine kills and five total blocks in the losing effort. Junior Erin Grady chipped in with nine kills and five total blocks as well. Setter Lisa Bostian finished with 31 assists and six kills.

SDSU travels to Pepperdine to face the Waves in a non-conference road match on Wednesday (Sept. 29) at 5:00 p.m.
