Women's Volleyball Comes Up Short In Season Opener

LOS ANGELES - The San Diego State women's volleyball team dropped its 1999 season opener on the road Wednesday night to 25th-ranked Loyola Marymount, 3-0 (15-9, 15-3, 15-13) at Gersten Pavilion.

The Aztecs fell behind early in the first two games, but pushed the Lions point-for-point in the third game before falling 15-13.

SDSU was led by senior outside hitter Jamie Evans. Evans led the team with 11 kills and tallied a .108 attack percentage, while middle blocker Nadia Privara hit for .250 with two kills off four attacks.

The Aztecs will play host to defending national champion and fifth-ranked Long Beach State on Tuesday, Sept. 7, starting at 7 p.m. in Peterson Gym.  The first 500 fans in attendance will receive an SDSU women's volleyball magnet.
