Men's Soccer Falls To 18th-Ranked Gonzaga

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men?s soccer team was defeated by 18th-ranked Gonzaga, 2-0, in first-round action at the Coors Classic Tournament being hosted by UNLV.

For the second time in three games, an SDSU opponent scored first via an Aztec own goal, this one coming in the 15th minute. The Bulldogs added a second goal in the 65th minute when Jason Kuska converted a cross from Matt Blasdel.

The win improved Gonzaga?s season record to 3-2-1 while San Diego State fell to 2-3.

The Bulldogs outshot the Aztecs 12-7 on the night, the first time this season that SDSU had fewer shots than an opponent in a game. Freshman goalkeeper Brian Barnes recorded a season-high four saves.

San Diego State continues play in Las Vegas on Sunday, September 19th, when it faces Maryland-Baltimore Country at 2:00 pm (PDT). UMBC defeated the host Rebels by a score of 1-0 Friday night.
