San Diego - The San Diego State women's basketball team (6-17 overall, 3-8 WAC) dropped its final home game to Brigham Young University (13-9 overall, 7-3 WAC) Saturday night at Cox Arena in front of 954 fans.
Junior forward Mary Apiafi scored a career-high to lead the team with 14 points and pulled down a team high five rebounds. Two other Aztecs scored in double-digits; both freshman Claire Swinbank and junior Sophia Sledge scored 10 points. In her final home game of her SDSU career, senior Charley Murray added three points and dished out a game high five assists.
For the game, the Aztecs shot 35-percent from the field and 67-percent from the free throw line wheras the Cougars shot .595 from the field and 78-percent from the charity stripe. Leading the way for BYU was Alisha Griffeth with 16 points while Lori Henry-Cuff pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Aztecs will travel to Honolulu to take on the University of Hawai'i on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. (HST).
