SDSU Downs Tulsa, 4-1 in Men's Tennis

LOS ANGELES - In the first NCAA Men's Tennis Regional of the day at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of UCLA, San Diego State University came from behind to defeat the University of Tulsa 4-1. The Aztecs advance to Saturday's regional final at 3:00 pm against the winner of the UCLA-Western Michigan match.

Tulsa took an early 1-0 lead after claiming the one point awarded for doubles play. On court No. 3, Sean Monk-Shiranga Sudhaker defeated Sean Walker-Travis Hasson 8-6, and on Court 2, Joel and Dane McGregor clinched the doubles point for the Golden Hurricane by defeating Nguey Lay-Kolo Rosenthal 8-4.

But San Diego State dominated in singles play to take the victory. On Court 5, Travis Hasson won the first singles point with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win over Viljar Zilmer. Alex Waske then defeated Tulsa's Gareth Williams at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2, shortly before Nguey Lay defeated Joel McGregor 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. The Aztecs wrapped up the team victory when junior Blair O'Hara defeated Sean Monk 6-2, 7-5 on Court 6.

The Aztecs grabbed their first victory over Tulsa this season. On March 9, the Golden Hurricane handed San Diego State its first home loss since 1997, 5-2.
