SDSU Blanks San Jose State, 9-0

The No.41 San Diego State University women's tennis team stunned unranked San Jose State today, 9-0, in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Albuquerque, NM.

The Aztecs recorded straight set wins in five of the six singles matches and swept the doubles matches, including an 8-0 victory by the junior team of Laura Aguero and Lisa Papi at the No. 2 spot. Aguero was taken to a third set in singles play, but defeated Anna Nordell, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0. Senior Maggie Cole snapped a four match losing streak at the No.1 spot and picked up her 19th win of the season by defeating Daisy Hurst, 6-2, 6-1.

SDSU will face the University of Texas El Paso in second round play, Thursday, April 29 at 9 a.m.
