San Diego State Ties for 12th at the Western Athletic Conference Championships

SAN DIEGO, CA -

San Diego State tied for 12th-place at 1999 Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, held February 25 through 27 at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Aztecs tied New Mexico with 78 points.

Southern Methodist dominated the fourteen-team meet. The fourth-ranked Mustangs scored 907.5 points, 417 points ahead of second-place Brigham Young (490.5). Rice finished third with 401 points.

The Scarlet and Black were led by freshman Meghan Cassillan and senior Courtney Hoblick. Cassillan, scored fifteen points for SDSU when she finished fourth in the 100 backstroke. Her time of 56.82 beat the her previous school record by more than one second. Hoblick, finished 7th in the 200 breast stroke en route to scoring 12 points. She recorded the team's fastest time in the event this season with a 2:21.57.

The last two seasons, SDSU finished 13th out of 14 teams.
