San Diego, CA - The San Diego State mens volleyball team bounced back from an opening game loss to sweep the next three sets and defeat Cal State Northridge 11-15, 15-4, 15-13, 16-14 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at SDSUs Peterson Gym. The Aztecs wereed by senior Tom Hunters 29 kills as the squad hit for a blistering .359 average on the night. The victory moved San Diego States record to 2-14 on the season and 2-13 in conference play. CSUN is now 2-19 overall (1-15 MPSF).
Hunter, a middle blocker from Louisville, Colorado, attacked at a .429 hitting percentage on the evening. He got outstanding support from juniors Mike Szymanski with 19 kills and eight blocks and Josh Sanders who had 12 kills, 13 digs and hit .500 in thmatch. Helping to turn things around for the Aztecs after the game one setback was sophomore Nick Marbach. The 6 8" Glendale, California product came off the bench in the second game to record 18 kills and 11 digs on the night while hitting at .375. ThMatadors were led by 610" freshman Eckhard Walters 29 kills.
The Aztecs next match is Saturday, April 3 vs. UC Santa Barbara in Peterson Gym.
