April 19, 1999

SAN DIEGO -

The San Diego State University women's tennis team stunned the 22nd ranked Toreros, 5-1, at USD friday, April 16 in their last match of the season.

The Aztecs clinched the win taking five of the six singles matches; USD's Zuzana Lesenarova, currently ranked No.1 in the nation, recorded the only win of the day for the Toreros defeating Maggie Cole at the No.1 spot 6-4, 6-4. SDSU recorded wins at spots two through six to ensure the victory, therefore not requiring the doubles teams to play.

The upset improved the team's record and helped them finish the season 14-8 overall, 4-2 in the WAC. The Aztecs look to make this last win of the regular season, the beginning of a winning streak which will continue through the WAC Championships in Albuquerque, NM and the NCAA Championships in Gainsville, FL.

The Aztecs will travel to New Mexico for the WAC Championships April 28 through May 1.
