No. 28 Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten

SAN DIEGO - The 28th-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team defeated the University of Idaho, 5-2 on Saturday at SDSU's East Courts.

The Aztecs (5-0 overall; 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) set the tone early, winning the doubles point by sweeping the Vandals (2-4 overall; 0-0 Big West). SDSU's Alex Waske and Adam Webster beat Idaho's Darin Currall and Amod Wakalkar, 8-6 at the number one position. At two, the Aztecs' Nguey Lay and Kolo Rosenthal defeated the Vandals' Stephen De Silva and Fredrik von Sydow, 8-4. SDSU's Travis Hasson and Sean Walker completed the doubles sweep with a 8-2 win over Idaho's Eddie Brisbois and Tad Kincaid at three.

In singles play, Waske, who is ranked 18th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wakalkar. Currall defeated Rosenthal, 6-2, 6-3 at two, while Lay and Webster won at three and four, beating De Silva and von Sydow, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively. Brisbois claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Hasson at five, while Walker rounded out the singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kincaid at six.

The Aztecs return to WAC action tomorrow, when they battle No. 22 Fresno State at noon at the East Courts. The two teams met last year in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament, with the SDSU winning, 4-1.
