Men's Volleyball Team Falls to Loyola Marymount

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's volleyball team lost its ninth match of the season to Loyola Marymount University on Thursday 3-0, (10-15, 9-15, 11-15). The loss drops the Aztecs' record to 1-9 (1-8 in the MPSF). SDSU was led by junior outside hitter Mike Koch and senior middle blocker Tom Hunter in the losing effort. Koch recorded 13 and one error on 22 attempts (.545), a match-high 12 digs and five block assists. Hunter had a team-high 23 kills on 36 attempts (.528), seven digs and three block assists.

The win improves the Lions' record to 8-5 (7-4 in the MPSF). LMU was led by junior outside hitter Reid Priddy and senior outside hitter Tim Farmer. Priddy registered a match-high 24 kills on 39 attempts (.487), seven digs and two block assists. Farmer finished the match with 19 kills on 32 attempts (.344), eight digs and three block assists.

So far this season, the Aztecs have been led by Hunter and junior outside hitter Hans Stolfus. Hunter, who ranks first on the team in kills (204), hitting percentage (.309) and total blocks (66), currently ranks fifth in the nation in blocking average (1.77) and in the top-20 in the nation in kill average (5.13). Stolfus, who is second on the team in kills (120) and first in digs (69) and service aces (9), currently ranks third in the country in dig average (2.58).

The Aztecs take on University of the Pacific Tigers on March 13th at 3:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
