LOS ANGELES - Outside hitter Brook Billings had a match-high 17kills to lead the USC men's volleyball team to a 15-9, 15-1, 16-14 win overSan Diego State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday(Jan. 22) in USC's North Gym.
USC improves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in MPSF play, while San Diego Statewas playing its first match of the 1999 season.
Besides Billings, Eli Fairfield had 9 kills for the Trojans and BeauRawi also added 9 kills in his first start of the season.
For the Aztecs, Hans Stolfus notched 9 kills.
Troy handily won the first two games and began the third game withthree straight aces by Donald Suxho. The Aztecs rallied to tie the game at 14-14 before Will Nelson clinched the match for the Trojans with back-to-back aces.
SDSU is off until next Friday (Jan. 29), when it travels to Long Beach State.
