SAN DIEGO (AP) - Courtney Alexander scored 35 points to lead Fresno State to a 95-84 win over San Diego State on Thursday night.

Alexander sank 15-of-23 field-goal attempts, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range. He scored 37 in a 88-82 loss to Utah on Saturday, the most points a Bulldog player has scored in a game since 1974.

Terrance Roberson added 20 points and Melvin Ely had 15 for Fresno State (19-10, 8-5 WAC), which won for the 15th time in 16 meetings against the Aztecs since joining the conference in 1992-93.

San Diego State (3-22, 1-12) cut a 44-35 halftime deficit to 56-52 with 15:12 left but then went scoreless for nearly four minutes, allowing the Bulldogs to score nine straight points.

Myron Epps had 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Aztecs, who were playing their next-to-last under coach Fred Trenkle, who has announced his resignation effective at the end of the season.

Alexander helped the Bulldogs seal the victory by scoring the first seven points in a 12-0 run that gave them a 83-64 edge with 5:05 left.

The Bulldogs held a 30-17 lead with seven minutes left in the first half before San Diego State trimmed the margin with 39-33 with 1:35 remaining.
