PROVO, Utah (AP) - Mekeli Wesley scored eight of his 15 points in the final 6:40 of the game to lift Brigham Young to a 93-76 win over San Diego State Saturday.
BYU (10-12, 5-5 Western Athletic Conference) led 66-62 with 6:59 left after the Aztecs' Dante Wilson hit a 3-pointer. But the Cougars pulled away with a 20-8 run.
Wilson's basket had capped a 10-2 run for San Diego State (2-21, 0-11 WAC), during which he and Matt Watts had five points.
BYU took control early, taking a 29-9 lead with Todd Christensen and Michael Vranes each getting six points in that streak.
But David Abramowitz scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half, and the Aztecs came within 40-33 before the Cougars took a 43-33 lead into the locker room at the break.
Christensen led six BYU double-figure scorers with 17 points. Mark Bigelow had 16, Silester Rivers 14, Cooper 11 and Vranes 10.
Watts had 18 points for San Diego State, Epps 12 and Vince Okotie 11.
