Men's Golf Ties for Fourth at Ram Invitational

SAN DIEGO - For the second consecutive tournament, the San Diego State men's golf team finished in a tie. This time, the men from Montezuma Mesa finished in a fourth place tie with Western Athletic Conference and District 8 rival Colorado State at the inaugural Ram Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club (par 71 6,924 yards) in Fort Collins, CO. Nebraska took the team title with three under 837. Seventeenth-ranked Oklahoma placed second with a one over 841.

James Stewart's seventh place finish led the Aztecs. The junior from Hong Kong fired a one under 67-74-68-209. Scott Piercy added a solid performance in his Aztec debut. The sophomore transfer from Brigham Young shot scores of 70, 70 and 72 for a total of 212 (2 over par). Other Aztec finishers include, Magnus Carlsson (216-T25th), Kurt Cassidy (217-T31st) and Paul Becker (219-43rd).

Ralph Gemoets from Texas El Paso and Nebraska's Jamie Rogers tied for the individual championship with a score of 204 (-6).

Next week the Aztecs travel to Corvallis, Oregon for the Nike Northwest Classic.
