SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State mens golf team finished day two at the 1999 NCAA Golf Championships in 29th place in the 30-team field. The Aztecs failed to make the cut as only the top 15 teams after the second day move on to the final two rounds. SDSU, with a team score of 628 (308-320, 52 over par), ended up 38 strokes behind the leader, Clemson, which carded a team total of 590 (14 over par after 36 holes).
The 72-hole tournament is being played at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.
SDSUs low two-day score was posted by Scott Piercy (78-78-156, tied 89th). Senior James Stewart finished at 158 (80-78) while Kurt Cassidy (72-88) and Magnus Carlsson (80-80) ended the second day at 160. The Aztecs number-five man, Gundy Jones (81-82), totaled 163.
