Men's Basketball Falls to Arkansas State

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Antonio Harvey scored 19 points as Arkansas State overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half to top San Diego State 70-62 Sunday night.

Sunday's loss gives San Diego State (1-10) its poorest start in school history.

The Aztecs scored five straight points to increase its lead to 46-35 in the opening two minutes of the second half. But Arkansas State (6-4) used a 13-0 surge to move ahead 61-54 with 8:28 to go.

Harvey scored five points and reserve DeShawn Denson added four during that four-minute run, helping the Indians pull away to their fifth win in six games.

Chico Fletcher had 14 points and 10 assists for Arkansas State. It was his fourth game this season with double figures in both categories.

Myron Epps led San Diego State with 15 points and nine rebounds. Marcelo Correa added 13 points for the Aztecs.

The Indians took a 9-0 lead to start the game as the Aztecs missed its first four shots and committed three turnovers.

San Diego State faced a 25-11 deficit at 7:59 into the game. The Aztecs later trailed 30-17 before going on a 12-0 run. Jeffrey Berokoff scored a three-point play to tie the score 33-33 with 2:42 left.

Eric Beatty responded with two free throws for Arkansas State but the Aztecs recorded the last eight points of the half for a 41-35 lead.
