SAN DIEGO - (AP)John Burrell scored 14 of his 20 points in the final 15minutes Saturday as Nevada beat San Diego State 76-71 in overtime in theseason-opener for both teams.
The Aztecs took a 65-64 lead in the opening 10 seconds of the extra periodon Marcelo Correa's free throw, but Andre McLeod's three-point play with 3:40remaining put Nevada ahead for good at 67-65.
There were 27 lead changes and 10 ties in the game.
Burrell scored on two straight possessions to give Nevada a 73-65 lead withone minute remaining, and the Aztecs were unable to pose a serious challengeafter that.
San Diego State scored just one field goal in a span of 10 1/2 minutes beforeMyron Epps made a jumper with 38 seconds left in overtime. The Aztecs made only40 percent of their shots overall including 4-of-22 from 3-point range.
Derrick Anderson added 18 points and Calvin Criddle had 11 for Nevada.
San Diego State's Matt Watts came off the bench to score a game-high 29points. Correa and Epps added 12 points each for the Aztecs and Correa also hadnine rebounds.
Donte Wilson's layup gave San Diego State a 64-63 lead with two minutes leftin regulation. Nevada's Demetrios Marmarinos made a foul shot three secondslater, and there was no more scoring after that until the overtime period.
