SAN DIEGO - Paul Lockhart capped an eight-run eighth-inning uprising with a three-run home run, his second of the game, over the right-centerfield fence to lead San Diego State to a 12-9 nonconference win over Hawaii-Hilo today at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
Lockhart's first homer of the game, a two-run shot, came in the sixth inning and cut the Vulcans lead in half, 6-3.
The Aztecs (18-18) fell behind the Vulcans (6-31) early, surrendering five second inning runs and trailed 7-0 after five innings.
The Vulcans were led by Darren Chu and Spencer Yates each of whom had three RBI.
The Aztecs play at Long Beach State on Tuesday before returning home to host New Mexico in a three-game WAC series at Tony Gwynn Stadium April 9-11.
