SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Aztecs lost the final game of their three-game WAC series with New Mexico, 12-10, at Tony Gwynn Stadium today. With the loss, the Aztecs slip to 19-21 (6-9 WAC) on the season, while New Mexico improves to 21-20-1 (9-9).
Michael Campbell put the Lobos on the board first with an RBI double scoring CoryRobbins in the second inning.
In the third inning, when the visitors expanded their lead to 6-0, Aaron Sisk hit a two-run double with no outs and by the time the dust had settled New Mexico had sent 11 batters to the plate.
UNM expanded its lead to 8-2 in the fourth inning courtesy of Sisk's 13th home run of the season. Sisk was just one of three Lobos who would homer on the afternoon, ChrisArmstrong and Robbins sent Aztec offerings over the outfield fence as well.
Armstrong had a huge weekend, hitting .600 (9-for-15) with three RBI while scoring four runs in the three-game series. In fact, the Lobos hit .328 (39-for-119) while outscoring the Aztecs 24-19 in the three games.
Billy Montgomery, Tyler Echelbarger and Ben Leuthard led the Aztec chargewith three hits apiece.
Junior RHP David Caron (2-1) started and took the loss. He went just 2.1innings, allowing six runs on six hits while walking two.
The Aztecs host crosstown rival USD on Tuesdaybefore travelling to Provo, Utah, for a three-game WAC series with BYUbeginning Thursday.
