SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's volleyball team lost its second match against No. 6 Hawai'i on February 26th 3-0, (10-15, 9-15, 5-15). The Red and Black took the Rainbows to a decisive fifth game on February 24th losing 3-2, (4-15, 5-15, 15-10, 15-13, 14-16).
The loss drops the Aztecs' record to 1-7, (1-7 in the MPSF). Senior middle blocker Tom Hunter and junior setter John Engstrom provided the offense for SDSU. Hunter had a match-high 24 kills on 45 attempts (.311), eight digs and five block assists. Engstrom recorded a match-high 50 assists, five digs and added four total blocks.
The Rainbows were led by sophomores Brenton Davis (OH) and Clay Stanley (Opp). Davis had a team-high 18 kills on 39 attempts (.385). Stanley registered 11 kills, a match-high 11 digs and three total blocks.
The Aztecs' next match will be against No. 3 Lewis University on March 7th at 7:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
