SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Despite a ferocious second half comeback, the San Diego State women's basketball team fell to Hawaii, 65-57 in front of a season-high 1,280 at Cox Arena on Saturday.

After trailing 41-25 with 15:50 left in the game, the Aztecs (4-13; 1-4 Western Athletic Conference) went on a 11-0 run. The Rainbow Wahine (10-7; 2-3 WAC) was held scoreless for 4:09 during the comeback and found themselves leading 41-36 with 12:57 left.

Junior guard Sophia Sledge led the SDSU charge during the comeback, draining two three-pointers, recording an assist, and getting a steal.

However, Hawaii was able to keep the Aztecs at bay for the remainder of the game, as SDSU was not able to cut the lead to less than three points.

Aztec freshman guard Claire Swinbank continued to show promise, as she scored 11 points and recorded four assists before leaving the game with 4:06 left due to an injured left ankle. Swinbank knocked down 2-of-3 three-pointers in the game and was 4-of-8 from the field.

SDSU freshman forward Atim Otii impressed as well, as she led the Aztecs with 16 points and hauled in seven rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass.

SDSU will look to bounce back when it hosts San Jose State at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 28 at Cox Arena.
