SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team dropped its third straight game tonight, 86-56, to Boston College in Cox Arena. The Aztecs record fell to 2-7, while the Eagles improved to 9-1.
San Diego State kept the game close in the opening minutes until Boston College went on a 44-16 run to take the lead 50-22 at the half. The Eagles shot 64.5 percent from the field in the first half compared to the Aztecs 32 percent. SDSU played a solid second half, but the BC lead at half was enough for the 86-56 win.
Alissa Murphy (Scripps Ranch HS) and Cal Bouchard led the Eagles with 16 points apiece. SDSU's freshman forward Atim Otii led all scorers with a career-high 17 and pulled down six rebounds. Freshman guard Kelly Rushford also hit double-digits in points with 13, hitting all five of her shots from the field. Sophomore guard Shannon Lee had a game-high and career-high seven assists, while junior guard Kaly Gillette tied a career-high with three three-pointers in the game.
San Diego State will head east for its next game as it faces Toledo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28. The next home game for the Aztecs will be on Wednesday, December 30 at 4:00 p.m. in Cox Arena.
