SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team concluded action at the 2011 San Diego Classic II with a pair of victories at the SDSU Softball Field on Saturday. Those results included a 4-2 walk-off victory over Ohio State and an 8-0 run-rule decision over Ohio. With the wins the Aztecs, who have won six of their last seven outings, improved to 16-14.

In the contest against Ohio State (10-7), SDSU trailed 2-0 heading into its final at bat in the bottom of the seventh. The shutout was ended abruptly as Lorena Klopp led off with a solo home run. It was the eighth of the season for the freshman outfielder as she established a new San Diego State single-season record breaking a mark that had stood since 1999.

Klopp's homer was followed by a single off the bat of Hayley Miles. A throwing error allowed Kamerin May to reach base with Miles safe at second. Eva Sahatdjian bunted the runners up one base before a sacrifice fly by Kristin May knotted the score at 2-2.

Jen Wisneski then belted a home run over the left field fence to give SDSU the 4-2 victory. Wisneski's long ball made a winner of Samantha Beasley (5-6) who had come on in relief of Bailey Micetich in the fifth inning. It also made a loser of Ohio State starter Karisa Medrano (2-8), who had allowed only two hits over the first six frames.

In the night cap San Diego State scored six times in the third inning en route to the 8-0 decision over Ohio that was over after six innings. This time it was Micetich who came on to pitch in relief as she went the final 4.2 innings, coming on the second inning. She allowed just two hits as she improved to 10-7 on the year.

The Aztecs scored their six runs in the third thanks to just a pair of hits and control problems by the Bobcat pitching staff. The two hits were singles by the first two hitters of the inning (Jen Wisneski and Lindsey Marquez). Before it was over, SDSU had scored on four bases-loaded walks, a hit by pitch and a fielder's choice.

The Aztecs added single runs in the fifth and sixth on an RBI double by Wisneski and run-scoring single by Justeen Maeva. Wisneski was SDSU's leading hitter on the day going 4-for-6 over the two games with a double, home run, three RBI and a run scored.

Up next for the Aztecs will be a trip north next weekend to compete in the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto. SDSU will open tourney play with a contests against Sacramento State on Friday, March 25, at 9:00 a.m.
