COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State softball’s Grace Uribe garnered Mountain West Pitcher of the Week accolades, the league announced Monday. Uribe earned the honor for her six shutout innings in SDSU’s win over No. 12/13 Arizona on Saturday.

San Diego State (30-16, 13-6) split a pair of 1-0 pitchers’ duels against the No. 12/13 Wildcats at SDSU Softball Stadium over the weekend. On Friday night, starting pitchers Cece Cellura and Devyn Netz were both stellar and the game was in a scoreless tie through six innings. Netz helped her own cause with a solo home run down the left field line in the seventh and the Aztecs were unable to respond, falling 1-0. In Saturday’s contest, Uribe and Cellura combined for seven shutout innings, holding the Wildcats to just three hits and Mia Rodriguez raced home on an error in the fifth inning as the Aztecs emerged triumphant with a 1-0 win.

Uribe faced 20 batters and retired 18 of them in Saturday’s performance. Dakota Kennedy singled twice for the Wildcats, but Uribe otherwise completely shut down an offense that entered the day averaging 7.24 runs and 9.28 hits per game. She earned the win and recorded one strikeout in her six innings before Cellura picked up the save by pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

The two-way star joins Cellura (Feb. 17, March 31, April 14) and Dee Dee Hernandez (Feb. 24) as Aztecs to win Mountain West Pitcher of the Week this season, meaning that all three of SDSU’s qualified pitchers (at least 1 inning pitched per team game played) have brought home the honor. SDSU’s nine Mountain West weekly awards this year are one shy of Nevada’s league-leading ten while Boise State (6), New Mexico (5), Fresno State (2), Utah State (2), Colorado State (1) and UNLV (1) account for the other weekly awards in 2025.

This weekend, San Diego State will wrap up its regular season with a three-game home series against San Jose State. The Aztecs and Spartans will play at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday before a noon start on Saturday for Senior Day. The games on Thursday and Saturday will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
