The San Diego State athletic department has announced that two suites will be available for rent at each Aztec home football game at Qualcomm Stadium this season. MORE

San Diego State pitcher Stephen Strasburg has been selected to play on the U.S. baseball team at next month's Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, China. He is the lone amateur named to the 23-man squad that consists primarily of professional players not currently on the active roster of a major league club. Strasburg will become the fifth Aztec to compete with the U.S. Olympic baseball team, following in the footsteps of former SDSU standouts Chris Gwynn, Flavio Alfaro, Travis Lee and Royce Ring. MORE

Aztecs Enjoy Banner Spring in Academics

During the spring 2008 semester, San Diego State athletic teams performed admirably in the classroom as 13 of 18 Aztec programs achieved a team grade-point average of 2.81 or better. Of the 13 teams, six finished the semester with a GPA of 2.99 or better, one posted its best semester since at least the fall of 1999 and two others ended with their second-highest semester GPAs ever. Goldberg Suffers Early Exit at U.S. Amateur Public Links

Former San Diego State golfer Aaron Goldberg (Encinitas, Calif.) was upset by Brady Johnson (Mill Bay, British Columbia/Brigham Young), 5 and 4, on Wednesday during the opening round of match play at the 83rd annual U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in Aurora, Colo. Goldberg suffered the unexpected defeat less than a day after claiming medalist honors in qualifying stroke play, which earned him the tournament's No. 1 seed in the 64-player bracket. MORE
