IRVINE, Calif. -- Lauren Harper came in second in the mile to pace the San Diego State track and field team at the Steve Scott Invitational Friday night in Irvine, California.
Harper ran a time of 4 minutes, 44.16 seconds (4:44:16) in the rarely-run outdoor event, just behind UC San Diego’s Sylvana Northrup’s time of 4:44.09. Harper finished second of 26 entrants.
Tatum Zinkin was the only other Aztec to finish in the top 10, taking ninth in the invitational 800 in 2:15.11.
Most of the SDSU track and field team will wrap up the week at Arizona’s Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday. The hammer throw will kick things off for San Diego State at noon PT with the triple jump closing the field events at 6:30 p.m. PT. On the track, the 100 hurdles starts off the Aztecs’ day at 4:45 p.m. PT with the 800 ending the night at 8:45 p.m. PT.
