SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State women’s basketball head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson has announced the addition of Carlie Latta, a 5’10” guard who averaged 9.1 points as a freshman at Utah State last season.
Latta (LOT-uh) appeared in all 31 games for the Aggies while making 26 starts and led the team in three-pointers (56), assists (2.3), free-throw percentage (86.8%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.28).
She shot 40 percent from the floor and 34 percent from three and had six games with 15 or more points, the third most in Utah State history for a freshman. She also had a team-high four games with at least five assists.
Latta’s 9.1 points per game was the third most in the Mountain West by a true freshman last season, trailing only SDSU’s Naomi Panganiban (10.3) and her teammate Taliyah Logwood (9.7).
Latta (Paul, Idaho) was a three-time All-State selection in Idaho and the 2024 Idaho 4A Player of the Year at Minico HS after averaging 25 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior. She set the Idaho 4A state tournament scoring record, after totaling 95 points with 31.7 points per game during three contests in the 2023 tournament. She was also a four-time letterwinner in volleyball.
Latta is the third transfer to come to San Diego State from another Mountain West school this offseason, joining forwards Kennedy Lee (Nevada) and Maria Konstantinidou (Fresno State).
The Aztecs are coming off a 25-win season, the third most in school history, where they won the Mountain West tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
