SDSU’s Jordan Leveque and Alyssa Alumbres Notch Wins at Triton Invitational

SAN DIEGO -- Jordan Leveque and Alyssa Alumbres each picked up victories in their respective events to pace the San Diego State track and field team Friday on the first day of UCSD’s Triton Invitational.

Leveque beat out 22 others in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, ¼ inches (3.97 meters). Teammate Kayla Tassara matched Leveque’s height but took two more attempts to lose the tiebreaker. Tassara became the 21st Aztec in program history to clear 13-00.25 as she PR’d twice in the meet. Leveque’s personal best is 13-04.25 (4.07m). Sydney Ash and Peyton Bedrosian each tied for ninth in the event for SDSU at 11-05.75 (3.50m).

Alumbres, meanwhile, remained undefeated in the triple jump during the outdoor season, winning her second straight event with a leap of 39-10.50 (12.15m). The mark was a collegiate best and more than a foot over the runner-up finisher (38-05.00) as she beat 25 others in the field.

Takiyah Blue led a trio of San Diego State runners in the 400 meters, taking 30th out of 95 in 25.34 seconds, just ahead of teammate Laraigh Allen (25.53) in 34th.

The Aztecs also had three runners compete in deep fields at the Mike Fanelli Classic in San Francisco with Maddie Heller leading the way by taking 51st (out of 117) in the 5K with a time of 17:29.56.

San Diego State will complete day of the Triton Invitational and Mike Fanelli Classic on Saturday, while Lauren Harper and Sophia Wolf will run the 800 at the Stanford Invitational.
